Seafood

If you live on one of the 3 coasts (West Coast, East Coast and the Gulf Coast) you are quite familiar with the varied seafood that is available. Those of us who live in the middle states, don’t have the same luxury of fresh seafood, but we do enjoy those denizens of our lakes and streams.

Fish is full of omega-3s, iron, B vitamins, and protein, all of which are essential for health and wellness. It’s good for your heart, bones, brain, and immune system to eat fish and shellfish because they contain nutrients, vitamins, and omega 3.

Here’s some of my favorite seafood dinner ideas.

Seafood Jambalaya – In the 18th century, south Louisiana invented jambalaya. Rice, protein, seasoning vegetables, and spices make up a standard jambalaya.

Garlicky Lemon Baked Tilapia – Tilapia is a mild tasting fish. This is a great way to introduce your non-fish eaters to fish. Nice and flaky with hints of lemon and garlic appeals to many.

Seafood Boil – My favorite memory for a neighborhood party was when our neighbor invited us to a feast! He had recently received a large delivery of frozen seafood. We were in Montana and the boil was a success. I can still taste the crab and lobster he had incorporated into this dish.

Fish Tacos – Are eaten everywhere it seems. Depending on your location, you can find them on the food trucks and even on a mid-week dinner.

Fish is best served with a nice crisp white wine. With the number of recipes that are available containing fish, you’ll be able to taste other wines to see if you like how the flavors meld.
