World Food Day for me is a time to celebrate the simple fact that I have enough. I have enough food to survive the day. Another way is to donate food to the local food pantries so that everyone can have enough food at least for one day. You could even donate monthly to help decrease food insecurity. Another option is to donate a certain percentage of your budget to a local charity. A good place to find your local food pantry is here! Feeding America

There is a certain list of food and other things that are needed by most every food pantry. The need is great due to inflation, jobs, and other issues that need to be helped with.

Other items include diapers, laundry detergent, feminine hygiene products, and others. Cash donations are seldom turned down. These funds help purchase supplies as it can be afforded. Your donated time is also welcomed. Perhaps you can make a tradition with your family, but volunteering your time at the food pantry. The help is desperately needed. The best way to determine what a particular food bank needs is to call them. Even so, if the need is great, there might even be a list posted some place.
The ability to give back to your community adds a little pride to your step. Knowing that you’ve made a donation that is desperately needed warms the heart.
When you are dealing with hunger, especially if you have children, is heartbreaking. It’s terrible to see a child cry from hunger. As a result, the cry strikes your soul and you never will forget the sound. So please, reach deep. Be it time, food or cash, be as generous as you can. When what we can give is combined with other’s generosity, we can eliminate hunger from our shores.
