National Sundae Day

OMG! National Sundae Day is a celebration I personally need to be careful of. To me, a sundae is two scoops of homemade ice cream, homemade chocolate sauce and strawberry, and homemade whipped cream. It’s a lot of work, but oh so worth it! So let’s slide into that rabbit hole we call National Sundae Day!

Breakfast Sundaes

To be honest I thought this was my own idea. However, after doing a quick search on the Internet, I discovered that it wasn’t as original as I thought it was. lol

Breakfast Bowl 1 – Healthy and easy to make. Even the littlest ones will love this and will fast become a family favorite!

Breakfast Ice Cream Sundae – Even healthier than the first option! When your child asks for ice cream for breakfast, now you can be the cool parent and say yes!

Eggs In A Cone – Easy to make, but even more important is the ability to be transported easily. You could use this recipe on a Sunday morning walk, even a summer stroll at the local park. Not as healthy as the other variations, but hey a treat is a treat!

Home Made Ice Cream

National Sundae Day

For this holiday, home made is the word of the day. Home made ice cream can be made with a machine that does the cranking for you. This can also be made by hand. Here are a few ways to create the masterpiece that starts this wonderful day.

Ice Cream without a Machine – Thanks to the Dairy Discovery Zone, here is the best ice cream recipe I’ve found. No machine needed. Ice Cream Sundaes made for dessert use Vanilla Ice Cream as the base. This allows the various toppings to be the star.

Toppings – There is no limit to the toppings for an Ice Cream sundae. Some of my favorite toppings are Home made Strawberry Jam, Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips, Whipped Cream, Nutella Sauce (Nutella heated until syrupy), Peaches cut into small chunks, etc. Mixing a topping or two into the ice cream and adding more just before serving makes for an even better sundae experience.

Enjoy!
