New Year’s Eve is the time to say good-bye to 2022 and hello 2023. This is also the time where most everyone makes their New Year’s resolutions. Whether your celebration is a can of your favorite beer and watching the fireworks on TV or everyone dresses up in their fancy clothes and drink champagne and listen to the amazing live band your host has hired, you’ll find something in here to help your party out!
New Year’s Eve is a great time to “trip the light fantastic”. Party atmospheres rule the norm. Even the little ones are treated to being able to stay up later to say goodbye to 2022 and hello 2023. They seldom make it that far, but they do give it good try.
So here are some recipes I’ve used over the years and some I just recently located. I hope you have as much fun trying them out as I did.
Holding a New Years Eve Party?
This is a nice way to host a momentous celebration for the New Year’s arrival. Friends and family coming together to move the current year to the past and hopes and dreams for the New Year is a great bonding event.
What you’ll need:
- Decide on a budget and then stick to it!
- A good location. If your home isn’t very big and the guest list is long, consider renting an appropriately sized destination for your party. Work with them as to what they will provide as a good portion of the venues include the utensils, plates and glasses in their rental agreement.
- Decide with the venue what should be served as well as deciding if it’s an open bar.
- Attend the celebrations and make sure your friends and family make it home safe as well.
Partying at Home?
What you’ll need:
A place to party. Living Room, Dining Room, Basement Family Room?
A big screen TV to watch the various fire works shows.
Plenty to eat and drink
Drinks:
Champagne Jelly Flutes – This drink has a very chilling secret. Follow the directions to have the most success when making these very tasty concoctions!
West 75th Cocktail – This is a very good cocktail. Easy to drink. Variation is to trade the raspberries to Blackberries. The taste is out of this world.
Appetizers:
Chicken Parm Bites – These little bites of heaven are easily made and quickly disappear! Even with a small gathering, I would suggest doubling the recipe.
Mini Bacon Cheese Bites – This treat comes with its own utensil in the form of a pretzel stick. When you mix Cheese and bacon together, you have heaven on a stick!
Sausage Stuffed Mushroom: These go way fast! Make lots of them and then watch them disappear!
Lunch/Dinner
If you are hosting dinner for a large number of guests, I highly suggest setting up a buffet. The cost alone would be worth it. It will also keep you out of the kitchen and in the mix of things with your guests.
Beef Stew – Celebrate the New Year with this old-fashioned favorite. Let all of the ingredients simmer in a Dutch oven for about three hours—it’s the perfect make-ahead recipe.
Red Wine Pasta – Serving pasta with tomato sauce is so last year. Celebrate the arrival of the new year with this totally innovative pasta dish. The sauce uses an entire bottle of red wine, which cooks with pancetta, shallots, garlic, red pepper flakes, and plenty of Pecorino Romano.
