Holidays are special times for us to get together with friends and family. Some holiday specials require a more lavish table and others are best celebrated at the park, in the mountains, by the ocean depending on your family’s tradition. Here are some ideas that you can add to your own traditions.
This page will be updated in preparation for each holiday as it comes up. The first will be July 4 festivities and continue in order around the year.
July, 2022 Holiday Specials
I enjoyed writing this page as it helped me to remember plenty of 4th of July celebrations through the years. I hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane as well as the recipes.
Teddy Bear Picnic Day – July 10, 2022 – This wonderful holiday helps us to teach our children to be grateful for their friends real or imagined. Using their stuffed animals make it more important to them as they understand these special friends.
August, 2022
8/4 : National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day – At my house there is only one chocolate chip cookie recipe. Nestle’s Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie. With the addition of a ice cold glass of milk, these cookies are the absolute best ever.
8/13: National Bowling Day – A favorite activity for most everyone! The thrill of knocking down pins made seem odd, but the satisfaction of knocking them all down is simply amazing.
8/26: National Dog Day – Treat man’s best friend to a little of your culinary expertise. Oh you don’t have expertise in this area? Okay these are very easy to create and they are Poppy Approved.
8/30: National Beach Day – What better way to spend one of the last days of summer? Soak in the sun! Play in the water! Enjoy some amazing treats and food.
September, 2022
9/1 : National Chess Day – Celebrate the Chess Master in your house with a impromptu Chess Tournament. Have fun with the idea. Make up games for the younger kids.
9/13: International Chocolate Day Chocolate is one of the most loved flavors in the world. It’s versatility in both desserts and main courses lends to it’s incredible health benefits.
9/22: Hobbit Day – Turn your Hobbit Day celebration into a food holiday event by serving traditional hobbit meals. Discover what you need to serve at each meal, plus a few suggestions for crafting the perfect Hobbit Day menu. This page has become my favorite for something a little out of the ordinary, but not so far out that no one would eat it.
9/29: National Coffee Day – Drinking coffee each day actually has health benefits. Coffee increases your metabolism. It lowers your risk for Diabetes Type II. Those two benefits are remarkable in my opinion.
October, 2022
10/1: World Vegetarian Day – Before World Vegetarian Day was a thing, the popularity of vegetarian diets continued to grow. In this section you’ll find that it is not necessary to get protein from meat 100% of the time. Enjoy the recipes that highlight the Vegetarian Way
10/4: National Taco Day – National Taco Day is one my son celebrates at least once a week. Every Tuesday for dinner, we have Tacos. They are soooo yummy. Our newest tradition is to celebrate Tuesdays with a taco bar. Sometimes we invite friends over and it becomes a Mexican Fiesta!
10/16 : World Food Day – World Food Day for me is a time to celebrate the simple fact that I have enough. I have enough food to survive the day. Another way is to donate food to the local food pantries so that everyone can have enough food at least for one day.
10/31 : Halloween 2022 – Christmas is for the kids mainly, but Halloween is my playground for the evening. Planning what to dress up as the holiday grows closer. As a result, we discussed the various ideas from brainstorming with friends was a blast as we chose what we were going to be.
November, 2022
11/5 : American Football Day – The game for everyone! Celebrate American Football Day with an tail-gate party in your backyard! Nothing say family more than this.
11/11 : National Sundae Day – Sundaes bring memories of sweet ice cream mixed with strawberries melting in my mouth. However, Sundaes are not just for dessert anymore.
11/24 : Thanksgiving – The best foodie holiday there is. This holiday isn’t celebrated for what you think. I’ve included the Wikipedia definition on this page.
11/30 : National Mason Jar Day – Mason Jars have more uses then to store our canned food. Here are some unique recipes to help celebrate this holiday.
December, 2022
12/3 : National Pear Day – A gift from the Gods, pears are an underappreciated fruit. Not many recipes when compared with strawberries or apples. So live a little on the wild side and have a pear or two.

12/14 : National Monkey Day – What can I say. My colleagues and I love monkeys. So here are some ways to celebrate National Monkey Day.
12/25 : Christmas Traditions 2022 – The most wondrous time of the year! Children get excited about what Santa will bring to put under the tree. Miracles happen almost daily. So many traditions are followed during the Holiday Season.
12/31 : New Year’s Eve – The party of the year is held for most on New Year’s Eve. Say farewell to 2022 and celebrate the possibilities of 2023. Out on the town or celebrate at home. Each is a great way to create memories.
January, 2023
1/1 : New Year’s Day – A time for reflection around the New Year. Rejoicing in the promise of a better time in our lives. Creating resolutions for what you want to accomplish surrounded by friends and family is one of my most favorite days of the year.
