Bowling has been a part of our family’s life for decades. Even now the great-grands hint to go bowling. At least those old enough to know what bowling is. Why not host a mid-summer bowling ball party to help make the last days of summer memorable. Check with the local bowling alley to make sure that what you plan is possible at their location.
Some Ideas for a Bowling Ball Party
Things to serve: usually are bought at the bowling alley. Could even be a part of a special package deal. Again check with your local alley to see what they offer.
Decorations and Games
- Print name tags on printed bowling balls. Can use safety pins to attach their names on their clothes.
- Make your own Happy Birthday banners.
- Connect construction paper bowling balls and pins, alternating with fishing line, yarn, string or twine.
- Connect the letters in Happy Birthday (CHILD’s FIRST NAME) as listed above.
- Make your own version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Make or buy a poster size picture of a bowling alley. Put pictures of bowling ball pins in various areas on the picture. Using tape, give bowling ball pictures to each child and see who gets the closest to a pin. If they happen to get two pins? They win a small prize. The one who is closest wins a prize. Perhaps a couple of free games or a family pass to the bowling alley.
- For each frame of bowling, have the kids bowl in a silly way. Some ideas for goofy bowling:
- Granny bowl. (bowl like your grandma would)
- The backwards way is to roll the ball under your legs with your back to the pins.
- Dance bowl (kids dance as they bowl).
- Bowling in slow motion.
- Play sit-down bowling (kids sit down and push the ball).
Food
- Pizza – If you make your own, make some resemble the bowling ball and other the shape of the pins. If purchased from the Alley, most likely it would be regular round pizzas. You can print stickers in the shape of a bowling pin and put on a variety of soft drinks.
- Hamburgers – Purchased from the bowling alley if available.
Treats
- Birthday Cake and Ice Cream (order or create your own Bowling Ball Cake)
- Bowling Ball Rice Krispies Treats – I love the original recipe for Rice Krispies Treats. Easy to make. Easy to mold into balls and dipped in chocolate. Use small white candy dots for the finger holes. Put each ball on a stick and enjoy!
- You can form bowling pins with the Rice Krispies Treats, dip in melted white chocolate and then take strands of red licorice around the neck of the bowling pin treat. Put each on a stick and enjoy!
