Saving Your Fingers with the Clipboard

Most of us never even think about using the clipboard. Simply because we didn’t even know it existed. When you click on CTRL+C, we know that we copy the highlighted information. Then we click CTRL+V to paste. You see it all the time on twin babies’ clothing. It’s cute and easily understood.

But did you know you could save information in the clipboard AND use it in any program you have on your screen? Works for both Windows 10 and Windows 11. I didn’t even find it until I was trying to find a macro program that assigns text to a key combination to enter a specific message into the documents we are using.

When I started that macro journey, I could enter a 7 word snippet in about 1.5 seconds. Too bad there isn’t a typing Olympic event. Will be watching for someone to create the “Office Olympics” with all the appropriate pomp and circumstance. I’ll wait…. …. ….

Why makes the Clipboard so helpful?

By using this technique, you can utilize this included application to have certain snippets of text into the clipboard, the hit WINDOWs key+V, click the snippet you want and lastly click whatever key(s) that will enter that entered data.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking? 3 texts? How about the results from a phone call? “Called. LVM.” Even… “This is Barbara Ryan. Just a quick reminder that we have a scheduled call soon. I’ll be calling from this same number. Looking forward to meeting you. TTFN”

Here’s how to use it.

  1. Create a list of the snippets that you use every day into a Google Doc. I call mine Mz Clipboard. She saved me tons of time. She’s a Mz. Sorry guys. Make sure that they are in order of how you use them. So I have mine entered with all the “Sent 3 txts and email with book” and then phone call responses such as “Called. NA VMB not set up yet” and even “Called. LVM”. Make sure your list is complete and in correct order. When it is time to enter the snippets, you’ll want to copy them in reverse order! That makes it so the information is given back in the correct order.
  2. Now comes the fun. Go here to learn how to use. Windows 10 and Windows 11 have different interfaces. So be sure you’ve click on the tab (located IN the window you are looking at)
  3. Finally, open a Google doc and PLAY with the program. Click each tab in Clipboard. See what it does. Makes it easier using the ā or even á. There’s even gifs in there. I’ll leave it to you to have a little fun. It’s a rabbit hole, yes. A small rabbit hole.

This is an amazing tool that takes a bit to get used to. Best of all there is no need to learn a ton, just a new way of using a FREE tool that is included in both Windows versions. I hope you enjoy. Takes me about 90 minutes to send 3 sets of text, an email, and make a call to 25 leads.
